About RADIANT

RADIANT is a small, 100% youth-run org running programs and events that engage young people in social change efforts and help them land opportunities and jobs that create real social impact in their communities and across the world. We’re WA-based and founded, but have received funding to expand into NSW in 2023.

About the role

In 2022, we ran a pilot of the Bright Generation Program across three regional schools in Western Australia. Bright Generation aimed to work towards ending disparities in the accessibility of employment, educational, and extracurricular opportunities for rural, regional, and low SES students through affirmative programs connecting young people with mentorship, training, and opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

The program is targeted at reducing disparities in rural, regional and low SES tertiary attainment and employment, by:

Over the course of 3 days we visited the year 9-12 students at Cunderdin, Mukinbudin, and Narembeen District High Schools, running aspiration-raising, goal-setting, and career-planning activities, connecting students with professional and academic opportunities within their desired pathways. You can read more about the impact of our pilot program here, and check out our highlight reel from the tour here!

In 2023, we’re expanding Bright Generation to NSW, with the aim of bringing our program to five regional schools, and establishing a scholarship program for engaged regional students to be connected with career mentors, professional development opportunities, and key experiences throughout a fully-funded Sydney trip. It’s going to be our biggest project yet, and we need strong leaders working with us to make it happen.

The core role of this employee will be coordinating the expansion of the NSW Bright Generation Program in 2023. This paid position will involve leading a volunteer team in the organisation of the program, event coordination, liaising with schools and other providers, and coordinating the logistics of the program.

This role has a second component, too - from 2023, we’re aiming to provide paid programs to metro schools across NSW and WA. These programs will, in the long-term, fund the ongoing occurrence of the Bright Generation Program on a buy-one-give-one basis - for every program delivered in a metro school, we’ll deliver a program to a regional school that aims to level the playing field by connecting regional students with the opportunities and support regularly afforded to their metro peers. This employee will support the expansion of this model in metro schools across NSW to ensure a steady revenue stream for future iterations of Bright Generation, and the ongoing operation of RADIANT programs into the future.
